Brendan Rodgers Celtic side came out top in a thrilling encounter against harsh rivals, Rangers. Celtic won the encounter 3-2 coming from behind twice at Ibrox. The win helped Celtic extend their lead on the Scottish league table.
It was Rangers who struck first in the 3rd minute through Josh Windass before Tom Rogic equalized in the 11th minute. It was an end to end encounter that saw both sides going for the win.
Celtic were once behind again after Daniel Candeias scored from a Declan John’s cross in the 26th minute. The Hoops were not willing to go into the half time break chasing the game and did all their best to level things. They finally got it on the stroke of half time all thanks to Moussa Dembele. The resilience they put in the game was top notch.
The second half started in the same pace as the first and in no time, it became feisty. Jozo Simunovic saw red for an elbow on Alfredo Morelos in the 57th minute. This mean that Rangers had more than half an hour to take the maximum point on the day but that didn’t happen as they were wasteful.
It was Brendan Rodgers tactical substitution that worked magic. He brought on Odsonne Edouard and it was his 69th minute beautifully struck goal that gave Celtic the win.
It was a sweet victory at the home ground of your fiercest rival and winning four consecutive times there means they have conquered their rivals. It took their lead on the top of the table to nine points.
Celtic will now to consolidate on their win and extend their lead on the table when they travel to face Motherwell next Sunday. Rangers will hope to bounce back when they host Kilmarnock next Saturday.
