Done deal: Manchester City complete £60m move for Mahrez

Manchester City has confirmed their first summer signing Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City for a deal at worth £60million, according to from Goal.

The news outlet further reported that the Algeria international joined to become City’s all time record signing and also on a five-year deal.

The Premier League defending champions have longed been monitor the progress of Mahrez with Leicester City, and they were close to sign him in the previous January transfer window, only for a move to fail on deadline day.

The 27-year-old has made it known that the club’s style of play is “perfect” for him and he has always wanted to be part of a club that’s “redefining the English game”.

He also said:

“Watching them from afar has been a pleasure,”

“Pep Guardiola is committed to playing attacking football, and City’s performances last season were outstanding.

“I think we can be successful over the coming years and I believe my own game can develop under Pep’s management.”

He added: “Of course the way we play attracted me here.”

“But also because it is a big club. I want to win titles and I know that this is the best club to try to win things. With this manager and this team, everything [is here].”

Mahrez has been rewarded with the No.26 jersey number and will be officially unveiled to the fans on Thursday.

He played a key role with help Leicester City win the title in the 2015-16 seasons and he was also awarded as the PFA Player of the Year that season.
