One of Arsenal’s best signing in the Emirates era, Santi Carzola will finally be calling it a quit at Arsenal after five great years at the club. Santi Carzola have been battling with injuries which has not allowed him feature for the club since 2016.
The Spaniard will be leaving the club after both parties agreed to part ways. Arsenal and Carzola were not willing to give it a trial for a new contract in the coming season and it seems Carzola still want to continue playing.
Reports had earlier suggested that he might be retiring at the end of his contract but that look unlikely as he’s going to continue to play, however not in premier league. The 32 year old had several surgeries that almost led to his leg being amputated but he survived it and he’s now recovering. He was listed in Arsenal’s Europa league players for the knock out stage with the hope of him returning before at least the final. This was not achieved.
Arsenal’s CEO, Ivan Gazidis have great words for Carzola. He said: “Santi is always one of my favourite players to watch. We wish him well for the future and thank him for his important contribution to our club.”
It is with great admiration that he has left the club and the fans will forever remember him for good. He is among the few players in Wenger’s last few years that will stand out.
